Occupational Therapy Training for Teachers and Schools

Give your whole teaching team the OT lens: practical, classroom-ready strategies from Hemdat Bar, M.S., OTR/L.

Why Schools Bring Us In

Teachers see everything: the child who cannot sit through circle time, the one who still holds a crayon in a fist, the one who melts down at every transition. What teachers often do not have is a framework for what is typical, what is worth watching, and what to do about it today. This training gives your staff that lens without asking them to become diagnosticians.

Hemdat Bar, M.S., OTR/L, works inside South Florida classrooms every week, so the training is built from what actually happens in them, not from a generic slide deck. Every session is customized to your age groups, your classrooms, and the questions your teachers are already asking.

What Your Team Will Learn

  • Developmental milestones that matter in the classroom: what is typical and what is worth watching

  • Sensory processing basics: recognizing sensory-seeking and sensory-avoiding behavior, with simple accommodations that work in a busy room

  • Fine motor and handwriting readiness: grasp, pencil and scissor setups, and quick activities that fit into any school day

  • Regulation strategies for circle time, transitions, and meltdowns

  • How to raise a concern with a parent: wording that helps instead of alarms

Who It Is For

Preschools, daycares and early-learning centers, private and charter elementary schools, aftercare and camp programs, and faith-based schools throughout Miami-Dade and Broward County. If your staff spend their days with children from infancy through elementary school, this training was designed for them.

In Person or on Zoom

We come to your school for a hands-on, in-person session, or deliver the training live on Zoom for teams anywhere. Either way, the content is tailored to your setting. Every participant receives a certificate of completion for in-service records and a one-page classroom handout they can keep at their desk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you customize the training for our age group?

Yes. Infant and toddler rooms, preschool, and elementary classrooms each get content built for their stage of development.

Can we split our staff into more than one session?

Absolutely. Many schools run two smaller groups so classrooms stay covered.

Is this appropriate for teachers with no therapy background?

It is designed for them. Everything is explained in plain language with examples from real classrooms.

Do you offer follow-up classroom observations?

Yes. After the training, Hemdat can observe specific classrooms and give teachers individualized strategies.
